Thinking about Getting a Payday Loan?… Say Cheese!

If you’ve ever been in a situation where you needed a payday loan, then you may have noticed that “some” payday loan locations actually snap your picture with a webcam at some point during the application process just before handing over your cash.

Why do they take your picture? To scare you, that’s why. They try to make it look all official so that you’ll think twice before stiffing them on the money you owe. It’s just a scare tactic. It’s quite possible that they’re not even taking your picture, but just pretending to.

Either way, a real photo has about as much value as a pretend one, which is next to none. Now, I’m not suggesting in any way that you run out and get yourself a bunch of payday loans and not pay them back. I’m merely saying that the photo they take, whether real or pretend, means nothing.

Should circumstances arise and you find that you are unable to pay back your payday loan, just be aware that the law is not going to come knocking at your door to arrest you for “check and wire” fraud like the payday loan companies would like to have you believe.

Welching on a payday loan may be morally suspect, but it is not criminal. It is a civil matter. I’ve said this time and time again but it warrants repeating. The worse they can do is sue you and even that is very unlikely. How do I know? I have lots of experience and I’ve never seen the inside of a courtroom or jail cell yet!
